Penelope was born in Madrid and did not begin learning English until she was 18. She admits it is still a struggle to perfect her words especially when she is working on a movie, reports Contactmusic.com .

“I’m starting to feel more relaxed about acting in English now, but it takes time and I have to work very hard on it. When I’m not performing in Spanish I feel extra tensed. It is like torture sometimes in trying to get rid of my accent,” she said.

Penelope was recently voted as the best-dressed celebrity of the year by a Spanish magazine.
